Volunteer Opportunities

The AUA has approximately 500 volunteers who serve on various committees and hundreds more who help with AUA's publications, year round courses and the annual meeting scientific program. This site highlights a number of volunteer opportunities which range from short term assignments that expose volunteers to AUA's programs to long term commitments that require more extensive expertise.

Medical Student Membership Workgroup

Applications are currently being accepted for five medical student volunteers to serve on the Medical Student Membership Workgroup for the 2026-2027 term! Workgroup members advise the AUA on the needs of medical students and help foster a strong network of engaged medical students looking to pursue a career in urology.

Positions are available for the following AUA Sections: Mid-Atlantic Section, New York Section, Northeastern Section, South Central Section, Southeastern Section. The application deadline is September 15, 2025.

American Board of Urology & American College of Surgeons

The AUA is a nominator for the positions listed below. The AUA is accepting applications for an Joint Committee on Cancer beginning October 2026. Please refer to the below qualifications document prior to submitting your application. The deadline to receive applications is October 31, 2025.

The ABU application email must include a NIH format biosketch and an updated Conflicts of Interest Disclosure record. The ACS Board of Governors application must include a one-page narrative highlighting your qualifications for the position and a CV.
