Timothy D. Averch, MD
Northeastern Section
Dr. Averch is an assistant professor of urologic surgery, director of endourology and endourology fellowship director at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. He received his bachelor of arts degree in anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his four-year urology residency and two-year general surgery residency at New York Medical College and a one-year fellowship in endourology at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore.
He has published more than 50 papers, abstracts and book chapters relating to urologic surgery. Dr. Averch is a member of numerous professional and scientific societies such as the American Urological Association, the American College of Surgeons, the Endourological Society and the Society for Urology and Engineering.
Toby C. Chai, MD
Mid-Atlantic Section
Dr. Chai is an associate professor of surgery in the division of urology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He received his bachelor of arts degree in natural sciences from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Bloomington. He completed his three-year urological surgery residency and his two-year residency in general surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor and completed a two-year urology and neuroscience fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Dr. Chai is a recognized national leader in the field of bladder conditions and voiding dysfunction. In addition, Dr. Chai has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, chapters, reviews and essays. He has lectured regionally, nationally and internationally. Dr. Chai is a member of the American Urological Association, the Society for Basic Urological Research, the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology and the Society for Neuroscience.
Michael S. Cookson, MD
Southeastern Section
Dr. Cookson is an associate professor of urologic surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He completed his bachelor of arts degree in journalism at the University of Oklahoma in Norman and his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City. Dr. Cookson completed his four-year urology residency and a two-year residency in general surgery at the University of Texas at San Antonio and a two-year fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
Dr. Cookson's clinical research activities include the diagnosis and management of localized and advanced prostate cancer including hormone refractory disease. He has published clinical research in the early detection of prostate cancer, including biopsy techniques and ultrasound detection of prostate cancer. Dr. Cookson has wide experience in the treatment and management of both superficial and invasive bladder cancer, including surgical techniques for orthotopic bladder substitution. He has also performed clinical research and published articles on the management of patients with penile and testicular cancer. Dr. Cookson is a member of the American Urological Association, the Society of Urologic Oncology and the American Association of Clinical Urologists.
Michael J. Conlin, MD

Dr. Conlin is an associate professor at Dotter Interventional Institute in Portland, OR as well as an associate professor in surgery and urology at Oregon Health and Science University. He completed his bachelor of arts degree in biochemistry at the University of Texas in Austin and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed his four-year urology residency, one-year surgery residency and one-year internship in surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University. He also completed a one-year fellowship in endourology at Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Conlin has authored and co-authored many papers published in peer-reviewed journals and has given almost 100 presentations at regional, national and international meetings. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the Endourological Society, the Societe Internationale D'urologie and the Urologic Society for Transplantation and Vascular Surgery.
Gregg R. Eure, MD

Dr. Eure is a partner in private practice at Devine Tidewater Urology, Ltd. in Virginia Beach, VA as well as an assistant professor of urology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Dr. Eure received his medical degree and completed his two-year residency in general surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He completed his four-year residency in urology at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk.
Dr. Eure has been a principal investigator in the research and clinical development of microwave thermotherapy and photoselective vaporization of the prostate, and has written many articles and book chapters. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the American Association of Clinical Urologists, the Society of University Urologists and the Virginia Urological Society.
Reza Ghavamian, MD

Dr. Ghavamian is an associate professor of urology as well as director of the division of urologic oncology at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. He completed his bachelor of arts degree in medical sciences from Boston University in Boston. He received his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Ghavamian completed a four-year residency in urologic and transplantation surgery at the University of Massachusetts Coordinated Surgical Residency Program, a two-year internship in general surgery at the University of Massachusetts Coordinated Surgical Residency Program in Worcester and a one-year fellowship in urologic oncology at the Mayo Clinic Foundation in Rochester, MN.
Dr. Ghavamian is an academic physician who has authored and co-authored more than 25 abstracts and national and international presentations and been published in 25 peer-reviewed publications. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the Society of Urologic Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
Christopher M. Gonzalez, MD
North Central Section
Dr. Gonzalez is the urology clinical practice director for the Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation Department in Chicago and is chief-of-urology for the VA Lakeside Division in Chicago. He is also an assistant professor at Northwestern University Department of Urology in Chicago. He earned a bachelor's of science degree in biology from Denison University in Granville, Ohio and went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City. Dr. Gonzalez then completed both his three-year urology residency and two-year general surgery residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
Dr. Gonzalez clinical interests include male urethral reconstructive surgery, minimally invasive/laparoscopic surgery, stone disease and general urology. His research interests include prostate cancer and cancer screening, information technology and electronic medical record development and clinical outcomes research for minimally invasive surgery and prostate cancer treatment. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 manuscripts and book chapters. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the Chicago Urological Association and the GU Reconstructive Surgery Society.
Tomas L. Griebling, MD

Dr. Griebling is the vice-chair of the department of urology and associate professor at the University of Kansas in Kansas City as well as assistant dean for student affairs and director of the Orr Academic Medical Society. He completed his bachelor of arts degree in biology, chemistry and sociology at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City, and completed his six-year internship and residency training at The University of Iowa in Iowa City. He also completed a two-year research fellowship in geriatric and reconstructive urology at The University of Iowa.
Dr. Griebling is currently finishing his masters of public health degree. He is a respected teacher and noted author, having authored or co-authored more than 50 papers and book chapters. Dr. Griebling is a member of the American Urological Association, the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons, the International Continence Society and the Geriatric Urological Society.
Gerard D. Henry, MD

Dr. Henry is a partner in private practice at Regional Urology, LLC in Shreveport, LA. He completed his bachelors of science degree in chemistry at St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. Dr. Henry received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. He completed his three-year urology and two-year general surgery residencies as well as a one-year research fellowship in erectile dysfunction at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.
Dr. Henry has authored and co-authored many papers published in peer-reviewed journals. He organized an unfunded multi-center study group on bacterial biofilm that is present of implanted devices. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the International Society for the Study of Impotence Research and the Sexual Medicine Society.
Fernando J. Kim, MD

Dr. Kim is the chief of urology at Denver Health Medical Center in Denver, assistant professor of surgery, division of urology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver and director of minimally invasive urologic oncology at the Tony Grampsas Urological Oncology Program at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He completed his undergraduate education at Colegio Integrado Objectivo in Sao Paulo, Brazil and received his medical degree from the University of Sao Paulo School of Medicine in Sao Paulo. He completed a four-year urology residency and one-year general surgery residency at Loyola University in Maywood, IL. Dr. Kim also completed a one-year research fellowship in endourology and laparoscopy at The James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.
Dr. Kim has authored and co-authored 20 book chapters, more than 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals and enjoys giving presentations at regional, national and international meetings. Lori B. Lerner, MD

Dr. Lerner is acting chief of the section of urology as well as staff urologist at the White River Junction Veterans Affairs Medical Center as well as assistant professor of surgery at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH. She completed her bachelor of arts degree in Russian and received her medical degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She also completed a four-year residency in urology and a one-year residency in general surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH and is a fellow in endourology at Bay of Plenty Urology in Tauramga, New Zealand.
Dr. Lerner has presented many abstracts and published several articles regarding her research. She is an accomplished speaker regionally, nationally and internationally. Dr. Lerner is a member of the American Urological Association and the International Health Medical Education Consortium.
Maxwell V. Meng, MD

Dr. Meng is the assistant professor in residence in the department of urology at the University of California San Francisco. He received his bachelor of arts degree in biochemical sciences from Harvard College in Cambridge, MA. He received his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. Dr. Meng completed his four-year urology residency and two-year surgical residency at the University of California San Francisco.
Dr. Meng is part of the multidisciplinary urologic oncology team located at the Mount Zion Cancer Center. He also operates at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center and San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Meng has written more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and nine chapters covering many aspects of oncology, minimally invasive surgery and renal trauma. Dr. Meng co-edited a book on urinary stone disease with Marshall Stoller, MD, which was published in 2003. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the American Association of Clinical Urologists, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the American College of Surgeons.
Hassan Razvi, MD

Dr. Razvi is the chairman of the division of urology and an associate professor of urology at the University of Western Ontario in London. He is also chief-of-urology at St. Joseph's Health Care London & London Health Sciences Centre in London, Ontario. Dr. Razvi received his pre-medicine bachelors of science degree and medical degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. He completed his four-year urology residency at the University of Western Ontario, a one-year rotating internship at St. Thomas Medical Centre in Akron, Ohio, a one-year clinical research fellowship in endourology at St. Joseph's Health Care London and a two-year research fellowship in endourology and prostate diseases at the New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center in New York.

Dr. Turk completed his undergraduate education at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA with a bachelor of science degree in biology. He also received a masters of science degree in biology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia-Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Robert E. Weiss, MD

Dr. Weiss is an associate professor of urology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ as well as associate professor of urologic oncology at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. He completed his undergraduate education at Brown University in Providence, RI. Dr. Weiss received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He also completed a four-year residency in urology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and a three-year fellowship in urologic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Weiss also completed a two-year general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
