AUA Names Zachary N. Gordon, MD as its Inaugural Science & Quality Scholar

LINTHICUM, MD, December 14, 2015-The American Urological Association (AUA) has named Zachary N. Gordon, MD as its inaugural Science and Quality Scholar for 2016-2017. This program is designed to prepare the next generation of urologists for key roles in the Science and Quality arena through intensive training, and the selection process is highly competitive.

The AUA developed the Science and Quality Scholar program to advance the fields of guidelines, quality and data, and to help residents and fellows develop insight into how the AUA improves and promotes the advancement of evidence-based science. Science and Quality Scholars spend a full year engaged in critical seminars, conferences and meetings at the national level. Scholars also engage in other educational activities such as attending the Brandeis University Executive Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management and the Epidemiology and Population Health Summer Institute at Columbia University (online course).

"In selecting the AUA's first Science and Quality Scholar, the committee was faced with the considerable challenge of winnowing the field to just one of the many highly qualified applicants and we are proud to recognize Dr. Gordon with this richly deserved honor," said AUA Science &amp, Quality Chair Dr. J. Stuart Wolf Jr., who led the selection committee. "He brings to the position exceptional credentials, a record of extensive service and future promise as a leader in the field of urology."
