Urologists Applaud House of Representatives for Passing Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015
LINTHICUM, MD, March 26, 2015 — The American Urological Association (AUA) today commended the U.S. House of Representatives for passing the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (H.R. 2), a bipartisan bill that would, at long last, permanently repeal the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula and modernize how Medicare pays physicians. The below statement can be attributed to William W. Bohnert, MD, FACS, president of the AUA:
"Urologists, together with the rest of the healthcare community, are thankful to members of the House of Representatives for passing this critical legislation and making Medicare reform a priority for the 114th Congress. We are grateful to the bill's champions and their staffs, who worked tirelessly to develop a bipartisan agreement that will not only reform how physicians are paid by Medicare, but also enhance the program as a whole. We are hopeful that the Senate will also see the value of this bill and pass it swiftly. A permanent fix to the SGR is essential to our ability to provide quality care to patients."
