Urology Care Foundation Names New Board Member
LINTHICUM, MD - The Urology Care Foundation, the official foundation of the American Urological Association (AUA), has announced Gopal Badlani, MD, will join the Urology Care Foundation Board of Directors (BOD), effective January 1, 2016.
The Urology Care Foundation, the world's leading nonprofit urological health foundation, strives to improve patients' lives and advance urologic research and education through its work with patients, caregivers, family providers, researchers other health care professionals and the general public. Dr. Badlani will succeed John Forrest, MD who has been a member of the Foundation BOD since its inception. Foundation BOD member, as well as Major League Baseball umpire and crew chief, John Hirschbeck will also be stepping down.
"Dr. Badlani's unwavering enthusiasm, perseverance and dedication to public health makes him a great addition to the Urology Care Foundation Board of Directors," said Richard A. Memo, MD, Urology Care Foundation chair. "His wealth of expertise, level of involvement and significant contributions to both the AUA, and the field of urology, are exactly what we seek in a volunteer leader."
Dr. Badlani most recently served as the AUA Secretary where he supported the Urology Care Foundation chair, Dr. Memo and the BOD with the Foundation's outreach and development programs. Through his tireless efforts, he helped establish 14 new Research Endowment awards through the Research Scholars Award Program, the flagship research training program of the Foundation. He is also currently professor of urology, vice chair for clinical affairs and director of the Urogynecology Regenerative Medicine Program at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
