Activities for the AUA Leadership Program

Requirements: The program requires a commitment to in-person meetings, as well as participation in calls and virtual meetings throughout the year-long program. The following activities for the AUA Leadership Program are pre-scheduled as part of the program and participation is mandatory for Leadership Class participants and mentors.

WELCOME RECEPTION/SOCIAL EVENT AT AUA2025 ANNUAL MEETING – LAS VEGAS, NV

During the April 2025 AUA Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, NV a Welcome Reception/Social Event will be held to formally announce and welcome the incoming Leadership Class. Past graduates, mentors and other AUA leadership are also invited to attend this event for an evening of networking and camaraderie.

AUGUST 1-3, 2025
LEADERSHIP TRAINING WEEKEND – AUA HEADQUARTERS, LINTHICUM, MD

The Leadership Training Weekend provides two days of immersive and interactive leadership development training and the opportunity to learn about the structure, governance and strategic initiatives of the AUA. This unique weekend also offers the opportunity for teams to connect and kick off Capstone Projects, as well as fun-filled activities for networking and relaxing.

Summer/Fall 2025
GROUP PROJECTS/CONFERENCE CALLS/EXCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM VIRTUAL EVENTS

Leadership teams will connect throughout the summer on their group projects. AUA will also hold exclusive virtual events for the Leadership Class, including sessions with Journal editors and key AUA physician leadership.

FALL 2025
VIRTUAL EDITORS WORKSHOP

This workshop will provide valuable insights from AUA editors on key topics such as editorial leadership, the collaborative efforts of the Voice of Urology across our journals and the Pathway to Publication. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the editorial process and how these initiatives can enhance their research dissemination and impact in the field of urology.

March 2026
Annual Urology Advocacy Summit/Capstone Presentations

This dynamic conference will feature two days of in-depth educational and trending policy sessions, followed by a day of agency and Capitol Hill meetings. The event will leave Leadership Program participants feeling empowered and well-versed in advocating for policy matters that impact our practices, patients, and the future of urology. On the day before the Summit, each team will present their Capstone Projects to a panel of judges made up of the AUA Board of Directors. The presentations will be judged, and a first and second-place winner will be announced that evening at a special dinner.

MAY 2026
GRADUATION CEREMONY AT THE AUA ANNUAL MEETING, WASHINGTON, DC

The culmination of the Leadership Program experience, this reception honors participants for their accomplishments. Members of the AUA Board of Directors, along with mentors and graduates from previous Leadership Program classes, will be present for this event.
