Stephen Y. Nakada, MD, FACS, FRCS(Glasg) is currently the President of the AUA Board of Directors, is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Urology and the David T. Uehling Chair of Urology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, WI. He received his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and completed his residency training at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Dr. Nakada went on to complete his Endourology Fellowship at Washington University prior to joining the faculty at the University of Wisconsin in 1995. Dr. Nakada has been the Chairman of Urology in Madison since 2001. In 2020, Dr. Nakada was named the Chief Administrative Physician of the Practice Plan at University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation.
Dr. Nakada's research focuses on urolithiasis and renal aspects of minimally invasive urology. He has authored or co-authored over 250 scientific articles, 50 book chapters, and he has edited more than 10 textbooks in those areas. Dr. Nakada has served on the AUA Staghorn Stone and Ureteral Stones Guidelines Committees, the AUA/ABU Examination Committee, and he served as the Chair of the AUA Laparoscopy and Robotic Surgery Committee. He has served as President of the R.O.C.K. Society, the Society of Academic Urologists, the Endourological Society and the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Nakada received the AUA Gold Cystoscope Award in 2004, a AUA Distinguished Service Award in 2017 and the Hugh Hampton Young Award in 2020. In 2019, he received the Ralph V. Clayman Mentor Award from the Endourological Society. Dr. Nakada has been a member of the AUA since 1997.

Jay D. Raman, MD, FACS, FRCS(Glasg) is Professor and Chair of the Department of Urology at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He received his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1997 and graduated AOA from Cornell University Medical College in 2001. Dr. Raman completed his Urology Residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Cornell Medical Center followed by a Fellowship in Laparoscopic and Endourology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Raman has been an attending physician at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center since 2008.
Dr. Raman’s clinical practice focuses on robotic-assisted surgery for upper and lower tract urologic cancers. His basic science research centers on infectious complications following prostate needle biopsy, while his major clinical research efforts revolve around staging and therapy for upper-tract urothelial carcinoma as well as complications of urologic surgery. To date, he has co-authored over 375 manuscripts, book chapters, and editorials and serves on the editorial board for three journals and as a reviewer for 12 journals. He has served as principal investigator on over 10 prospective clinical trials funded by federal, foundation, and industry sources.
Dr. Raman is currently Chair of the American Urologic Association Office of Education responsible for the educational materials of over 15,000 members throughout the country. He is also the Past-President of the Mid-Atlantic AUA section and serves as the Program Chair on the Advisory Council of Urology within the American College of Surgeons.

Kirsten Greene, MD, MS, FACS received her undergraduate training from the University of Virginia on full academic scholarship. She received her MD from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed her general surgery and urology training at the University of California, San Francisco where she also received a Masters in Clinical Research. She specializes in urologic cancers and minimally invasive surgery. Kirsten was Vice Chair and Chief of Urology at the SFVA and Associate Chair for Education and Program Director for the Department of Urology at UCSF until 2019. She was the first woman to achieve the rank of full Professor in the UCSF Department of Urology. In 2019, she became Chair of the University of Virginia Department of Urology and holds the Paul Mellon Endowed Chair in Urology. She became Associate Chief Medical Officer for UVA Health in 2020. Her research interests include minimally invasive surgery, novel imaging technologies in prostate cancer, resident and physician well-being and burnout, and outcomes in bladder, kidney and prostate cancer. She is the Past President of the Society of Academic Urologists (SAU) and the Secretary-elect of the Society of Urologic Oncology(SUO). She won the UCSF Resident Teaching Award and Peter R. Carroll Mentorship award at UCSF in 2018, the UVA Resident Teaching Award in 2022, and the AUA Mid Career award in 2022.

Jennifer Miles-Thomas, M.D., FPMRS, is a distinguished leader in medicine with a profound commitment to enhancing healthcare through leadership, innovation, and a patient-centered approach. She is the current AUA Treasurer-Elect. Dr. Miles-Thomas obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, followed by post-doctoral training at The James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. During her fellowship, she specialized in Female Urology, further enhancing their expertise in this important area of Urological care. She then completed an MBA at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. As the President and CEO of Urology of Virginia from 2020-2023, Dr. Miles-Thomas has pioneered accounting and finance reforms, cultivated change management and created reproducible process driven decision models that have significantly enhanced operational efficiency and patient care delivery. She is a frequent podcast guest and moderator on topics related to medicine and business and currently sits on multiple not-for-profit boards. Her leadership style is not just about managing and directing but about inspiring, mentoring, and making a tangible difference in the lives of patients and the medical community. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband Ivan, three children, Chris, Taylor and Jordan and Labradoodle, Jasper.

David F. Penson, MD, MPH, MMHC is currently the Secretary of the AUA Board of Directors, is the Hamilton and Howd Chair in Urologic Oncology, Director of the Center for Surgical Quality and Outcomes Research and Professor and Chair, Department of Urology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He obtained his MD from Boston University and completed his urology residency at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He then was awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar fellowship at Yale University and also obtained an MPH at Yale. He currently maintains a clinical practice in urologic oncology at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
Dr. Penson’s specific research interests include the comparative effectiveness of treatment options in localized prostate cancer and the impact of the disease and its treatment on patients’ quality of life. He has received federal grant funding from the National Cancer Institute, the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. He previously chaired the National Institutes of Health’s Health Services Outcomes and Delivery (HSOD) study section, which reviews almost all health services research grant submitted to the NIH.
Dr. Penson served as AUA Public Policy Chair (2012-2016) and AUA Science & Quality Chair (2018-2022). He has been a member of the AUA since 1997.

Dr. Rhee is the Regional Chief of Urology for Kaiser Permanente (KP) in Southern California and the National Chair of Urology for the Permanente Federation, responsible for empowering urologic care for 11.8M lives within the largest nonprofit, managed healthcare organization in the United States. He also serves as Area Assistant Medical Director for the Business Line & Finance for KP in San Diego.
Dr Rhee is the immediate past Chair of the Public Policy Council for the American Urologic Association (AUA) and serves as President-Elect for the Western Section AUA 2024. He was the 2013-2014 AUA Gallagher Health Policy Scholar. He is a past president of the California Urological Association and the San Diego Urologic Society. He served as the inaugural Section Editor for Health Policy for Urology Practice. He served as CoChair of the American Urologic Association Telemedicine Task Force, exploring the role of telemedicine in urologic care. He sits as Chair of the Western Section AUA Health Policy Committee and has been a member of the AUA Legislative Affairs Committee, the AUA State Advocacy Committee, the AUA Electronic Health Records Workgroup, and the AUA Work Force Workgroup. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Clinical Urologists (AACU) as the Western Section Representative. Dr. Rhee’s interests lie in the field of incontinence, urologic reconstruction & sexual medicine, and minimally invasive techniques for BPH. Dr. Rhee earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta,Georgia and completed his residency at the Kaiser Permanente Foundation Hospitals in Los Angeles, California. He received both his Bachelor of Science in Biology and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Emory University. He received his MBA from The Anderson School Management at UCLA in 2008 and is a graduate of the 2010-2011 AUA Leadership Class.

Kyle A. Richards is a practicing urologic oncologist at the University of Wisconsin with a clinical and research focus on bladder cancer. When he finished his training in 2014, he was hired at UW-Madison and took over as Chief of Urology at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, WI. He was Chief of Urology for 9+ years before stepping down in January of 2024 to focus on his academic bladder cancer program as well as co-lead the urology residency program.
During his nearly 10 years on faculty at UW-Madison, he has built a destination bladder cancer program that he now leads having performed nearly 600 cystectomies and opening numerous clinical trials. He serves as a panelist for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Guidelines for bladder cancer and is a reviewer for the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network Patient-Centered Clinical Young Investigator Award.
Dr. Richards is a graduate of the prestigious AUA Leadership program and past chair of the AUA Young Urologist Committee. He also serves the Urology Care Foundation as current chair of the Technology and Publications Committee. Lastly, Dr. Richards is a leader in health policy having served as the AUA advisor to the RUC from 2015-2022 and ascended to the AUA RUC member position in 2022.

Jennifer Robin, Ph.D. brings a unique blend of skills and experiences to her coaching and consulting engagements. She is a psychologist, ICF credentialed (ACC) and Certified Co-Active coach (CPCC) and Strategic Doing workshop leader, and an expert in leadership development, organizational culture, and strategic human resource management. Over 25 years ago, Jennifer was involved in launching one of the first MBA programs designed for physician leaders, working as part of the team that created its leadership development and coaching components at the University of Tennessee. Today, she is a faculty member and coach with the Business of Medicine program at Indiana University, continuing her impact in healthcare through its leaders.
As a consultant at Great Place to Work® Institute, Jennifer worked with senior leadership teams at several large healthcare organizations in California, Florida, Illinois, and Iowa. She has designed leadership development modules for healthcare organizations, advised major staff units such as Human Resources and Advancement, and worked with system-level leadership to create great workplace cultures. Both Scripps Healthcare and Mayo Clinic were featured in Jennifer’s books -- No Excuses: How You Can Turn Any Workplace into a Great One (2013), The Great Workplace: How to Build It, How to Keep It, and Why It Matters (2011).
Jennifer works with organizational leaders at all levels and in a broad range of industries. As a consultant, she advises senior leaders as they integrate their organization’s culture with its strategy and align efforts to be a great workplace. In her coaching practice, Jennifer guides leaders in career milestones (such as job searches, career changes, transitioning into a new leadership role) and in providing a platform for leadership development in the context of one’s current role. Jennifer coaches approximately 35 healthcare leaders each year.
Jennifer is an Affiliate Professor at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and a former Professor of Management in the Foster College of Business at Bradley University. Immediately prior to her current appointments, she served as the Dean of the School of Business at Southern Connecticut State University and Associate Dean at Bradley University.
