Naeem Bhojani, MD

Northeastern Section

Dr. Naeem Bhojani was born and raised in Montreal. He obtained a BSc in Microbiology and Immunology and another in Physiotherapy from McGill University in 2001 and then completed medical school and urology residency at the University of Montreal. In 2011, Dr. Bhojani spent 2 years with Dr. Lingeman at IU completing his Fellowship in BPH and Stone Disease.

Dr. Bhojani was recruited by the University of Montreal in 2013 to build and develop Comprehensive Kidney Stone and BPH Programs. At the University of Montreal, he has the rank of Associate Professor and clinical researcher.

Dr. Bhojani has published extensively in stone disease and BPH. In 2017, Dr. Bhojani was named the AUA’s Young urologist of the year representing the NSAUA. In 2019, Dr. Bhojani was awarded the prestigious clinical research scholar award from le FRQ-S.

Anne Cameron, MD

North Central Section

Anne P. Cameron, MD, FRCSC, FPMRS is Professor of Urology and Associate Chair of Quality and Safety for the Department of Urology at the University of Michigan. After completing her medical degree at the University of Ottawa and residency in Urology at Dalhousie University, she came to the University of Michigan for a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstruction. Dr. Cameron is active with the Society of Women in Urology serving on their Board of Directors and active with the AUA serving on the Neurologic Lower Urinary Tract Dysfunction Guideline Committee. Dr. Cameron has also been very active with SUFU serving on the Executive Committee and was awarded their Paul Zimskind research award in 2018.

Tom Chi, MD

Western Section

Dr. Chi is Associate Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Urology at UCSF. With a BA in Human Biology and Masters degrees in both Sociology and Music from Stanford University, he completed medical school, residency and a fellowship in Endourology and Laparoscopy at UCSF.

Dr. Chi supervises an NIH-funded translational science lab focusing on how kidney stones form and developing new medical preventative interventions. From developing a novel fruit fly model for the study of kidney stones to orchestrating a multi-institutional kidney stone registry (ReSKU), to championing the use of ultrasound in the management of kidney stones to minimize radiation exposure, Dr. Chi is dedicated to bringing new data and surgical techniques into the hands of all urologists.

Matthew Coward, MD

Southeastern Section

Dr. Coward is an Associate Professor of Urology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Director of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at UNC Fertility, and Fellowship Program Director for the UNC Andrology and Men’s Health Fellowship. He received his MD with Distinction from UNC, followed by residency training at UNC in 2012 and a microsurgical fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in 2013. Dr. Coward has over 60 publications and book chapters, and his clinical and research interests focus in the areas of reproductive urology, men’s health, and sexual dysfunction.

Rodrigo Donalisio da Silva, MD

South Central Section

Dr. Donalisio is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Urology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Interim Chief of Urology at Denver Health Medical Center. He concentrates his clinical and research efforts in minimally invasive surgery, urological trauma and reconstruction. In addition to teaching, he focuses on surgical treatment of stone disease, minimally invasive therapy for benign prostatic hyperplasia, urological trauma, and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Donalisio received his medical degree from the Mogi das Cruzes University and subsequently he completed a research fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Donalisio served as a Minimally Invasive Surgery and Endourology fellow at Denver Health before joining the faculty.

Brian Duty, MD

Western Section

Dr. Duty’s clinical and research interests are in minimally invasive surgery for kidney obstruction, stones and cancer. He also has expertise in the metabolic work-up and medical management of nephrolithiasis. Dr. Duty attended Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) for both medical school and residency. After finishing his urologic residency training in 2010, he went on to complete an endourology fellowship at the Smith Institute for Urology in Long Island, New York. In 2019 he graduated from OHSU / Portland State University’s Healthcare Master of Business Administration program. Outside of Endourology, he has a strong interest in healthcare policy and advocacy.

Tullika Garg, MD

Mid-Atlantic Section

Dr. Garg is a urologic oncologist and health services researcher at Geisinger. She received her M.D. at Baylor College of Medicine and completed her urology residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Following residency, she completed a urologic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and earned an MPH at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Garg’s federally-funded research program focuses on patient- and caregiver-centered care for older adults with bladder cancer. Dr. Garg was an NIA Butler-Williams Scholar, an AGING Initiative Multiple Chronic Conditions Scholar, and is active on several AUA Mid-Atlantic Section committees. She is passionate about promoting research and policy for rural older adults with urologic conditions.

William Huang, MD

New York Section

William Huang is a fellowship-trained urologic oncologist at NYU Langone Medical Center and the Perlmutter Cancer Institute. He is Associate Professor and Vice Chairman of Clinical Affairs in the Department of Urology at the NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Huang is also the Chief of the Urology at Tisch Hospital and Co-Director of the Robotic Surgery Center at NYU Langone Health. Dr. Huang has extensive experience in open and minimally invasive surgical techniques. His expertise includes the treatment of complex kidney, retroperitoneal and testicular tumors, along with minimally invasive radical cystectomy and prostatectomy. Dr. Huang has published over 125 articles in journals including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet Oncology, JAMA and the NEJM. He has lectured at national and international meetings, particularly on improving outcomes following kidney cancer surgery. He continues to advance the field through research into novel approaches to the diagnosis and management of kidney, bladder and testicular cancer.

Bruce Jacobs, MD

Northeastern Section

Dr. Jacobs is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his fellowship training in health services research, urologic oncology, and laparoscopy/endourology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Jacobs’ research interests generally focus on improving the access, delivery, and quality of care. More specifically, he is interested in examining the adoption of new technologies and its implications for patient outcomes and health policy.

Rose Khavari, MD

South Central Section

Dr. Khavari is an Associate Professor of Urology and the Urology Residency Program Director at Houston Methodist Hospital. Dr. Khavari received her MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Texas with highest honors and completed her residency at Baylor College of Medicine which was followed by an advanced fellowship training in continence, pelvic floor reconstructive surgery, and neurourology. Additionally, Dr. Khavari has been one of the scholars through AUA-EAU International Exchange program and has used this AUA opportunity to understand the disparities that exist globally within Urology. Dr. Khavari is a scholar supported by NIDDK and as a rising surgeon-scientist in neurourology and pelvic reconstructive surgery strives to advance research, patient care, and education in her field.

Jessica Kreshover, MD

New York Section

Jessica E Kreshover, MD, MS is a fellowship trained specialist in minimally invasive urologic surgery. She is an Associate Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, Chief of Urology for Long Island Jewish Hospital, and Associate Program Director for the Urology Residency Program.

Dr Kreshover came to medicine after a short but successful career in engineering. She started undergraduate school at the University of Pennsylvania and subsequently transferred to the University of Virginia where she was awarded a scholarship for the outstanding woman in engineering. She then pursued graduate studies and completed a Masters of Science in Systems Engineering on a full scholarship before shifting her emphasis to medicine. Dr Kreshover earned her MD from the University of Virginia in 2007. She completed residency in Urology at Boston University Medical Center which included training at the Boston Children's Hospital and the Boston Veterans Affairs Hospitals.

Suzanne Merrill, MD

Mid-Atlantic Section

Suzanne B. Merrill, M.D. is Assistant Professor of Urologic Oncology at Penn State Hershey Medical Center and the Urology Residency Program Director. Dr. Merrill graduated summa cum laude from The University of Delaware and with AOA honors from The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Duke University followed by an SUO fellowship at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. At Penn State, Dr. Merrill has spearheaded efforts to improve resident education and well-being. At a national level, she serves as AUA oral board course faculty and as lead investigator in research involving the balance of surgical technique during training and the development of interview tools to improve assessment of medical student candidacy.

Trushar Patel, MD

Southeastern Section

Dr. Patel is currently an Associate Professor and the Urology Residency Program Director at the University of South Florida Department of Urology. He received my undergraduate and medical degrees from New York University. Dr. Patel joined the USF Department of Urology in 2013 after completing an Endourology Fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center. Prior to this fellowship, he completed his urology residency at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Patel currently serves as the Director of Robotic Surgery with a clinical focus in Urologic Oncology. His research interests include surgical education, quality of life assessment in cancer survivors, and surgeon ergonomics. Regionally, Dr. Patel is the president of the Tampa Bay Urologic Society and an active member of the Florida Urologic Society executive board.

C.R. Powell, MD

North Central Section

Dr. Powell is an Associate Professor of Urology at the Indiana University School of Medicine, boarded in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS), including urethroplasty in males and females, robotic surgery for complex pelvic prolapse, neurogenic bladder and urinary diversion, and correction of complications from vaginal mesh. He serves as the service line leader for the suburban urology practice. His research interests include development of wireless implantable devices for measuring bladder pressure, diabetes and its effects on the bladder, and female urethra reconstruction. The work has been funded by the NIDDK and has resulted in patents. He has been active in training residents not only in Indiana but also in Kenya and Gabon, with an interest in missionary medicine.

Polina Reyblat, MD

Western Section

Dr. Polina Reyblat is a Chief of Urology at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. She earned her undergraduate degree from University of California, Los Angeles. She obtained her medical degree and completed urology residency at Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California. She subsequently completed fellowship training in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at University of Southern California. Dr. Reyblat is a former board member of the Western Section AUA and served on Young SUFU Committee. Dr. Reyblat dedicates a large portion of her practice to transgender care and serves as a co-lead of the Regional Gender Affirmation Surgery Program at Southern California Permanente Medical Group.

Kyle Richards, MD

North Central Section

Dr. Kyle A. Richards is an assistant professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Chief of Urology at the Madison Veterans Hospital. He is the assistant program director for the residency program and is a practicing urologic oncologist with a focus on bladder cancer. Dr. Richards is a health services researcher and aims to identify novel strategies to improve workplace efficiency and quality of care. He has worked in health policy as an American Urological Association (AUA) advisor to the American Medical Association relative value unit update committee since 2015. He is the chair-elect for the AUA Young Urologists Committee. Dr. Richards is the author of more than 100 journal publications, abstracts, and book chapters.

Kristen Scarpato, MD, MPH

Southeastern Section

Dr. Scarpato is Assistant Professor of Urology and residency program director at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the Nashville Veteran’s Affairs Hospital. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and Masters of Public Health from Boston University. She attended Tufts University School of Medicine. She completed her urology residency at the University of Connecticut, followed by a urologic oncology fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She serves on the AUA Judicial and Ethics Committee as well as the Society of Urologic Oncology’s Young Urologic Oncologists Steering Committee. Her clinical and research interests surround the management of bladder and prostate cancer. Dr. Scarpato is most passionate about medical education, including curricular development and surgical simulation, mentorship and physician wellness.

Kevan Sternberg, MD

New England Section

Dr. Sternberg is an Associate Professor in the Division of Urology at the University of Vermont. He is the co-director of the Multi-disciplinary Kidney Stone Clinic and Director of Urologic Research for the division of Urology. His clinical focus involves the medical and surgical management of kidney stone disease. He is active in clinical and quality improvement research focusing on kidney stone/renal colic imaging, strategies for decreasing opioid use, and endourologic clinical outcomes. His quality improvement work has led to appointment on the AUA Quality Improvement Patient Safety Committee. He has had active leadership roles in the New England Section of the AUA as the Vermont State Representative and currently as the scientific co-chair for the upcoming NEAUA section meeting. Dr. Sternberg received his undergraduate degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and continued in Buffalo to complete urology residency at SUNY Buffalo. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in endourology and minimally invasive surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Sternberg has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and serves as a reviewer for multiple journals including The Journal of Urology.

Kelly Stratton, MD

South Central Section

Kelly Stratton, M.D., FACS is an Assistant Professor of Urologic Oncology in the Department of Urology at the Stephenson Cancer Center and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He completed his Urology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and continued on to complete a Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he served as Chief Administrative Fellow. He is the Clinic Director of the Prostate and Urologic Cancers Clinic where multi-disciplinary management of complex cancers are provided using protocol driven and clinical trial-based care models. Dr. Stratton serves as the Chair of the Stephenson Cancer Center Data Safety Monitoring Board, Disease Site Chair for Urologic Cancers, and as a member of the Oklahoma TSET Phase I Clinical Trials Program. He is the YUO Representative to the SUO-Clinical Trials Consortium and a member of the Prostate Organ Site Committee. He serves as the Surgery Liaison for the SWOG GU Cancer Committee. His research interests include clinical trial development and targeted treatment of localized prostate cancer.

Alex Vanni, MD

New England Section

Dr. Vanni is Associate Professor of Urology at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, and Director of the Center for Reconstructive Urologic Surgery where he serves as the GURS Fellowship Director. He is a graduate of Princeton University, and earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado. He completed his urology residency at the Lahey Clinic, and then fellowship in Trauma and Reconstructive Urologic Surgery at the University of Washington. Dr. Vanni’s clinical and research interests include all areas genitourinary reconstruction. He is the Eastern Massachusetts Representative to the NE AUA, is an executive board member of the Massachusetts Association of Practicing Urologists (MAPU), and serves as Vice President of the Trauma and Reconstructive Urologic Research Network of Surgeons (TURNS).
