CE Purpose

The mission of the American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc., (AUAER) Office of Education is to provide quality, evidence-based continuing medical education that is independent and free of commercial bias to enhance the clinical, business, and leadership competence and performance of urologists and the urologic care team.

Content Areas

Accredited Continuing Medical Education is provided by the AUAER in all domains of urology. The AUAER also provides education in the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education/American Board of Medical Specialties core competencies for physicians, as well as the Institute of Medicine core competencies for health professionals, and the Interprofessionals Education Collaborative core compentencies for interprofessional collaborative practice.

Target Audience

The primary target audiences are urologists, urologists-in-training (i.e, residents, fellows), urologic researchers, advanced practice nurses , physician assistants, primary care physicians and other members of the urologic care team.

Types of Activities Provided

The AUAER accredits evidence-based education using adult learning principles in the form of:

• Live Activities including hands-on skills training
• Enduring Materials
• Manuscript Review
• Other formats as appropriate

Intended Outcomes of the CME Program

The Accredited Continuing Education program intends to:

• Meet the lifelong professional educational needs of urologists, urologists-in-training, and the urologic care team based on identified professional gaps.
• Improve competence and performance of members of the urologic care team, which will ultimately improve patient care and outcomes.
