Request for Feedback: Renal or Ureteral Stone Surgical Treatment Cost Measure

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is soliciting feedback on the technical specifications of several MIPS program cost measures, including the “Renal or Ureteral Stone Surgical Treatment” measure. CMS calculates this measure using claims data from clinicians who provide surgical treatment for renal or ureteral stones to Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries. CMS is particularly interested in feedback on potential changes to the way the patient cohort for the measure is identified and to the risk-adjustment approach.

Clinician feedback is vital to the measure maintenance process. Even though the stones cost measure is not collected via AQUA, AUA’s Registry team strongly encourages you to provide feedback on the measure. Please use this link to submit your comments to CMS. Comments are due to CMS by 11:59pm ET July 21, 2023.

Additionally, a guide that provides details about this opportunity can be found here. The specifications for the stones cost measure can be found here and code lists for the measure can be found here

If you have any questions about the measure or the commenting process, please contact macra-cost-measures-info@acumenllc.com.
