Interaction and/or your engagement with the American Urological Association (AUA) or Urology Care Foundation (Foundation) Social Media Channels are subject to these Terms of Use, as well as the terms of use pertaining to the social media platform you use.

This includes but is not limited to the following AUA and Foundation Facebook pages, @AmerUrological and @UrologyCareFdn Twitter accounts, the AUA LinkedIn account and AUA and Foundation Instagram and YouTube accounts (collectively, “Social Media Channels”), which are social media platforms to connect to and learn about the AUA and/or the Foundation’s initiatives, resources, programs and patient outreach/education via information, pictures, video and patient education materials. All users who choose to engage with the AUA and/or Foundation Social Media Channels must comply with the following content standards:

• Content shall not disclose protected health information or other personal information, including information that may allude to or actually identify an individual or patient (name on scans, faceless picture, etc.), whatever the format may be.
• Content shall not contain inaccurate, malicious, obscene, offensive, abusive, defamatory, hateful, threatening or harassing material.
• AUA by its nature is subject to antitrust issues. Discussions about rates charged, efforts to exert collective pressure on payors, terms of contracts with insurance companies, internship salaries, etc, all are prohibited.
• The use of social media in an attempt to improperly influence AUAER's clinical guidelines is strictly prohibited.
• Content shall not promote any illegal activity, unlawful acts, violence or discrimination based on religion, nationality, age, race or other protected class.
• Content must respect patents, trademarks and copyrights and may not impose any potential infringement upon intellectual property rights, including but not limited to, brand names, trade names or logos of any person, business or place.
• Content shall not misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organization.
• Content shall not contain unsolicited or unauthorized advertising directed at AUA or Foundation followers, nor transmit any material containing software viruses, worms, disabling code or program(s) designed to disrupt, limit or destroy the functionality of any computer hardware, software or equipment.AUA by its nature is subject to antitrust issues. Discussions about rates charged, efforts to exert collective pressure on payors, terms of contracts with insurance companies, internship salaries, etc, all are prohibited.
• The AUA and/or Foundation name, logo or registered hashtags may not be used to promote or endorse any product, cause, company or political party/candidate.
• Content shall not support commercial activities, sales, contests, advertising or other promotions, unless approved by the AUA or Foundation.
• Users must disclose whether any content they post was developed, in whole or in part, by any artificial intelligence tool.
• Any use of Social Media Channels in an attempt to improperly influence AUA and/or Foundation is strictly prohibited.
• Only those Forums created by AUA and Foundation are official Social Media Channels of AUA and Foundation. Any other Social Media Channels containing AUA or Foundation logos or purporting to be an official AUA or Foundation social media channel should be reported to the AUA Office of General Counsel immediately.
• All official Social Media Channels are monitored by an administrator, designated by AUA or Foundation, who has the authority to remove content and/or people who violate these guidelines.

Disclaimer, License and Limitation of Liability

Content posted by the AUA or Foundation does not constitute medical advice, is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of individual conditions and should not be used as a substitute for consultation with a licensed medical professional or other traditional source of medical information. 

For any content that you submit or share with us, you grant AUA and the Foundation a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable right and license to use, copy, modify, delete, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, sell and distribute such content, and to incorporate such content in any form, medium or technology throughout the world, all without compensation to you. For this reason, do not post or share any content that you do not wish to license to AUA and the Foundation. In addition, you grant AUA and the Foundation the right to include the name provided with the content you have posted.

If the AUA or Foundation follow another user’s account, “likes” another page, re-tweets, “favorites,” shares, or otherwise re-posts another user’s content, it does not constitute an endorsement. Likewise, links that take you out of our Social Media Channels, websites, and digital assets are provided as a convenience, and the inclusion of these links does not imply endorsement of the linked site by AUA or the Foundation.  These links are not under the control of AUA or the Foundation, and AUA and the Foundation are not responsible for the terms and conditions, privacy policy, or content of any such site or any further links from such sites.

Additionally, the AUA and Foundation social media platforms may include content provided by third parties. All statements and/or opinions expressed in these materials are solely the opinions of the person or entity providing the material. Third-party content does not necessarily express the opinion of the AUA or Foundation.

Changes to Terms of Use

The AUA and Foundation reserve the right to edit these Terms of Use at any time without any prior notice. Any revisions will be effective upon posting on the website. The most recent version of these Terms of Use can be found on AUAnet.org and UrologyHealth.org. To remain in compliance, the AUA and Foundation suggest you review the Terms of Use, as well as the other website policies, at regular intervals. Continued interaction with the AUA or Foundation social media platforms after any changes or revisions to this policy indicates your agreement to the terms of the revised policy.
