American Urological Association and Urology Care Foundation Condemn Racism in All Forms and Call for End to Racial Inequalities

With more than 25,000 members of all races, from every corner of the world, the American Urological Association (AUA) and Urology Care Foundation stand against all forms of hatred, violence and racial discrimination. We condemn the negative impact they continue to have on our members, their patients, the communities in which they live, and society as a whole. Discrimination cannot be ignored and runs contrary to our oaths and moral responsibilities.

The AUA and UCF are committed to using our platform to improve the health of every individual, regardless of race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, national origin or economic status. We stand in solidarity with those who are calling for an end to racism, racial violence and any form of brutality, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing invaluable support to our community.

While humanity’s journey toward a more just society is demanding, we must each take the necessary steps to propel us forward. We must speak out against all forms of racism, including unjust incidents of violence and discrimination within our practices, institutions and communities, and we must work to recognize and eliminate the inequities we have come to see as everyday realities.

We continue to look ahead for ways to contribute to the fight against racism, including proactively and deliberately engaging in advocacy efforts to ensure racism no longer manifests itself within our health care system or patient care and no longer undermines public health. We are committed to harnessing our resources and to assembling solutions to promote equity within our society.
